Ανακοινώθηκε το Mandriva 2009.1!

Άργησε, αλλά τελικά αργά τη νύχτα ανακοινώθηκε η σταθερή έκδοση του Mandriva 2009.1 ή αλλιώς 2009 Spring.
Όπως κάθε φορά το Mandriva διατίθεται σε live cd είτε με το KDE είτε με Gnome ή σε dvd. Σε dvd υπάρχει η δωρεάν έκδοση (μονο με OpenSource προγράμματα), και η εμπορική έκδοση Powepack.
Η ανακοίνωση από το distrowatch μας δίνει πληροφορίες για τα νέα χαρακτηριστικά, αλλά και τα λινκς για να κατεβάσουμε τη διανομή. Εδω να θυμισουμε οτι καλό είναι να προτιμησουμε τα torrents ή κάποιον ελληνικό server (ftp.ntua.gr).



Mandriva Linux 2009.1 has been released: "Mandriva announces today the launch of the final version of Mandriva Linux 2009.1. Quicker, easier and even more secure, this new version brings you a host of innovative features. Main components: KDE 4.2.2, GNOME 2.26, X.Org Server 1.6, Linux kernel 2.6.29, Xfce 4.6. Mandriva Linux 2009.1 comes with a big improvement in boot time and the Mandriva Control Center tools have been also optimized. Network center is now supporting advanced network configuration, together with additional pre-configured Internet providers, integration with new network devices and support for different wireless regulatory domains. The Mandriva security framework, msec, has been also redesigned. The ext4 file system is now supported in stable version and available during installation." Έτοιμη η 10η κατά σειρά έκδοση του Ubuntu με αριθμό 9.04 ή Jaunty Jackalope με πολλά νέα χαρακτηριστικά τα οποία θα δείτε εδώ.
Τα λινκς για να κατεβάσετε τη διανομή βρίσκονται εδώ.
Προτιμήστε τα torrents.

Έτοιμο το FreeBSD 7.2 RC1

Έτοιμη η πρώτη RC για το επερχόμενο FreeBSD 7.2. Αντιγράφω από το distrowatch.com:

Ken Smith has announced the availability of the first release candidate for FreeBSD 7.2: "The first of two planned release candidates for the FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE cycle is now available. Testing of some of the recent work would be particularly appreciated. This includes: bce(4) updated (there is a report that lagg(4) does not work after the update, fixing that may need to be done as an errata notice after the release); testing of the threading libraries; amr(4) should be fixed. A fix for the 'vm_page_insert: page already inserted' panics has been committed to RELENG_7_1 this morning so it missed the 7.2-RC1 builds. Anne Nicolas has announced the availability of the second and final release candidate for Mandriva Linux 2009.1: "The RC2 release of Mandriva Linux 2009.1 is now available. This RC2 provides some updates on major desktop components of the distribution, including KDE 4.2.2, GNOME 2.26, X.Org Server 1.6 and Linux kernel 2.6.29. This release also provides a nearly complete 2009.1 design. It will allow you to transfer all available 'One' hybrid ISOs to a USB key in a very easy way and install Mandriva Linux on netbooks. Five 'One' ISOs are now available to provide KDE and GNOME desktops in a large number of languages. Major update of the X server has been completed and lots of testing is in progress to help improving support for the ATI, Intel and openChrome video drivers." Parted Magic 4 με νέα χαρακτηριστικά

Ανακοινώθηκε η 4η έκδοση του πολύ χρήσιμου boot disk Parted Magic.
Το Parted Magic είναι ένα Linux livecd που βασίζεται στο Slackware και είναι ένα από τα καλύτερα εργαλεία ανάκτησης αλλά και διαχείρισης των partitions του υπολογιστή σας.
